Energy Partitioning and Tissue Respiratory Metabolism of Laying Chickens Reared under Summer Conditions of Egypt

چکیده
A total number of 156 laying chickens at 29 weeks of age were used in the study. Birds were distributed equally in two dietary energy levels (2600 and 2900 Kcal ME/Kg feed) and three strains viz., Lohmann Selected Leghorn (LSL), Fayoumi and Dandarawi. Three experiments were conducted to measure energy partitioning values (36 birds), liver oxygen consumption and oxygen consumption of epithelium lining of magnum and shell gland (48 birds) and thermoregulation (72 birds). Dietary energy level had significant effect on apparent metabolizable energy (AME), the energy needed for maintenance and physiological work (MPWE) and liver oxygen consumption. Effect of dietary energy level was not significant on egg production performance, energy intake (EI), excreta energy (ExE), egg energy (EE) and physiological variables. Strain effect was significant on all energy partitioning variables, liver oxygen consumption, percent of change of cloacal temperature, skin temperature and egg production performance. The strain of higher production performance (LSL) had higher energy intake (EI), excreta energy (ExE), apparent metabolizable energy (AME), the energy needed for maintenance and physiological work (MPWE) and egg energy (EE). Dandarawi showed higher liver oxygen consumption, epithelium lining of magnum and shell gland. In addition, Dandarawi showed highest percent of change of cloacal temperature. It was concluded that Dandarawi and Fayoumi seemed to be energy wasting birds but with different models. H.M.S.Shoukry, et al.,

This study was carried out to investigate the egg production performance and egg quality characteristics of the indigenous chickens reared in rural areas of two different climates of Isfahan province. Totally, 2160 indigenous chickens were studied in this research. Two dominant climatic regions (cold and hot) were determined for Isfahan province. In each climate, two towns and three villages...
متن کاملEffects of Dietary Supplemental Vitamin E and Chromium on Egg Production, Egg Quality and Blood Parameters of Laying Hens under Thermoneutral or Heat Stressed Conditions
The effects of dietary supplemental vitamin E (VE) and chromium (Cr) on egg production (EP), egg quality, serum concentrations of Cr and insulin and activity of glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) were evaluated in Lohmann LSL-Lite laying hens reared under thermoneutral or heat stress (HS) conditions. A total of 144 laying hens were distributed in 24 cages and assigned to feed four diets including ...
متن کاملEffect of drought stress on the induction of summer dormancy and dry matter partitioning in alfalfa (Medicago sativa L.) ecotypes
Study of potential of alfalfa ecotypes in biomass partitioning and harvestable and non-harvestable parts as well as induction of summer dormancy under water scarcity can lead to develop adapted cultivars for sustainable farming system andto meet targets of the breeding program. Therefore, this experiment was conducted with 10 alfalfa ecotypes under four irrigation managements at Seed and Plant ...
متن کاملResponse of Broiler Chickens to Quantitative Feed Restriction with or without Ascorbic Acid Supplementation
Ascorbic acid (vitamin C) supplementation has been documented as a useful tool to improve the performance of laying birds reared under harsh environmental conditions. However, there is limited information on the use of ascorbic acid as a means of ameliorating the stressful conditions imposed by feed restriction. To this effect a 3 × 2 factorial experiment was carried out to evaluate the effect ...

A total of 150 day old female chickens (Ross 308) were randomly allocated to 2 groups with 5 replicate and 15 chicks in each replicate to determine the effects of cold induced ascites on performance, antioxidant status, blood enzyme activities and bone metabolism. The two experimental treatments were: 1) chicks that reared under normal temperature (NT) and 2) chicks that reared under cold tempe...
